Episode 136: The Iron Halo GT 2016
We’re on the road again, and this time the road takes us back to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, for our return to the Iron Halo GT! This time, it’s Rob and Kevin carrying the Preferred Enemies banner, and they’re not alone – Dave from the Renegade Open joins them as third chair. We talk about the location, the environment, and the games we’ve played. There’s even a repeat from the Flying Monkey as Rob and Kevin get into another Preferred Enemies tournament grudge match! How well does Kevin fair with his Khorne Daemonkin? Will Rob bring home Best Adepta Sororitas player? And don’t worry – we didn’t skimp on the new release coverage and listener questions. It’s all there, on location at the Iron Halo!

Regarding the fear / overwatch thing… I think a better solution would be to give more weapons (back) Pinning. Pinning prevents overwatch, and negates Initiative penalties for charging into cover.
Still a couple of problems there, though:
1) Fearless armies are immune to Pinning, so the effect is similar, much like Fear (although at least And They Shall Know No Fear wouldn’t stop it).
2) A dedicated assault army may have little to no shooting, so they might not have any weapons that could get Pinning.
Good points, though I’d say it is somewhat thematic that a Fearless unit would face your charge unflinching, and some of those units don’t even have shooting/overwatch (daemons)… and you’re right that ATSKNF can’t stop it!
To your other point, which of course is valid in the current game, but IF we had more access to Pinning (like we used to) – the cool thing about Pinning is that it doesn’t necessarily have to be the unit making the charge that causes the Pinning.
Tyranids have “The Horror” which causes Pinning with modifiers even, though most people don’t even consider using it. Other than that there are very few psychic powers that cause it which I find surprising.
Nids and Orks at least both have access to plenty of shooting; I think weapons like Sniper rifles (like they used to) and Heavy Bolter would actually be useful but not over-powered with Pinning… anyway just a thought and I’m sure it’ll never happen lol.
